Automotive and Supplier Industry
A piece of Brandenburg is in almost every vehicle
About 420 companies in the automotive and supplier industries in the capital region develop and manufacture components and complete assemblies, delivering them just-in-sequence directly to the vehicle manufacturers’ assembly lines. As a result, there’s a piece of Brandenburg in nearly every car.
Innovative and flexible
The industry is characterized by a high degree of innovation, flexibility, and quality standards. Approximately 38,000 people work for companies in the automotive and supplier industries in Berlin and Brandenburg—and this number is expected to continue rising in the coming years.
Champions League of the European mobility region
With Tesla's decision to establish its European Gigafactory in Grünheide, Brandenburg, the region has joined the premier league of Europe's leading mobility hubs. In addition to the continuously expanding production facility—Europe's largest manufacturing site for electric passenger vehicles—a battery production plant with a capacity of 18 GWh is now being developed.
Tesla is not the only major player investing in the region. At its Schwarzheide site, BASF manufactures cathode materials for electric vehicle batteries. The region is also gaining momentum in intelligent mobility technologies: Brandenburg is home to the DEKRA Test Center for Automated Driving, the largest facility of its kind in Europe, attracting vehicle manufacturers and technology companies from Germany and around the world.
