The innovation strategy of the State of Brandenburg

The leading principle of the State of Brandenburg and Brandenburg’s economic development policy is ‘Strengthen strengths’. In this regard, the focus is on nine strong growth clusters. They are supported by cluster managements that network economic and science to strengthen the innovative capacitie and competitiveness of companies. Five of the nine clusters are organised on a cross-state basis together with Berlin, four are independent Brandenburg clusters that reflect specific strengths of the federal state.

The basis for this guiding idea is the Innovation Strategy Berlin Brandenburg (innoBB 2025) and the Regional Innovation Strategy of the State of Brandenburg (innoBB 2025 plus) for sustainable and inclusive growth in the Brandenburg-Berlin capital region.

Promoting growth through targeted cluster management

Eight of the total of nine cluster managements (except tourism) are based at the WFBB. WFBB thus makes an important contribution to the implementation of the innovation strategy. Within the scope of cluster management, WFBB assumes the following responsibilities:

  • Activation of companies and research institutions as active partners in the clusters
  • Initiation of collaboration projects between science and business
  • Collaboration in the implementation and further development of strategies in the clusters (master plans)
  • Promoting the visibility of fields of action in the clusters through innovative projects, events and targeted public relations work.
