Strong Industries in Dynamic Clusters

Special Expertise — The Clusters’ Strengths

Brandenburg boasts special expertise in nine economic clusters. For the five with Berlin constructed Clusters Energy Technology, Healthcare Industries, ICT/Media and Creative Industries, Transport/Mobility and Logistics and Photonics as well as three Brandenburg state Clusters Food Industry, Plastics and Chemistry and Metal you will find specialized consultants at the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB). The Cluster Tourism Industry is managed by the Tourismus Marketing Brandenburg GmbH.

The following pages afford a glimpse into the clusters, the various cooperation and networking opportunities they offer, the special strengths of the individual industries and the customised technology transfer services available to businesses. They also mention consultants that you can contact directly.

Brandenburg’s cluster policy is primarily aimed at promoting the growth of businesses and boosting their competitive edge on international markets using investment incentives. A major component comprises tailor-made funding programmes – whether for investments or innovation. We’ll tell you what that means below.

To enable companies to realise their full potential, we offer a special service for the following “cross-cutting themes”-industries: Clean technologies, Materials, Production and Automation technology. Whether you’re active in solar technology, lightweight construction or intelligent control processes, you’ll always find an appropriate consultant at the WFBB.

Moreover, as a skilled workforce is a key issue for Brandenburg’s economic development, we offer a tailored employee qualification package in collaboration with our partners.

Don’t hesitate to contact us, even if your business doesn’t belong to one of the clusters but you have a concrete investment plan or R&D project for the expansion of your company.

The Project „Entwicklung und Umsetzung nachhaltiger Clusterstrukturen in Brandenburg und der Hauptstadtregion 2018-2020 (Cluster 2020)" is supported via the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy (MWAE) funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Federal State of Brandenburg.

Brandenburg innovation strategy (innoBB+)

The aim of the Brandenburg innovation strategy (innoBB+) is to develop the capital region as an internationally competitive centre for innovation. To do this it relies on the construction and development of clusters with a high potential for growth. To reach this goal, Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB) is carrying out the project "Pathways and strategies for sustainable cluster development and cluster-linking challenges in Brandenburg 2018-2020" („Wege und Strategien für eine nachhaltige Clusterentwicklung sowie für clusterverbindende Herausforderungen in Brandenburg 2018-2020“). The main task of the cluster managements involved in this project is to implement each master plan in collaboration with the partners and to connect players efficiently.
