Regionality as a driving force

Around 3,200 companies and businesses, large and small, with a total of around 58,000 employees – Brandenburg is popularising the German Capital Region far beyond its borders, both nationally and internationally.

Success through diversity

Brandenburg’s food industry is characterized by great diversity: from traditional products to innovative alternatives to animal-based products, and from small craft-based businesses to globally operating companies. Well-known brands, protected designations of origin and hidden champions shape the sector.

Fresh, regional and high-quality products are at the heart of the industry. The nearby Berlin market provides excellent conditions for regional specialties as well as innovative new products.

As an important economic sector, the food industry offers attractive employment opportunities across the entire value chain. Close cooperation between business and science further strengthens the innovative capacity and competitiveness of companies and contributes to the sector’s economic success.
