The region around the Regional office Central and West Brandenburg covers the districts of Dahme-Spreewald, Teltow-Fläming, Potsdam-Mittelmark as well as the independent towns of Potsdam and Brandenburg an der Havel. The region is therby a centrepiece of the Brandenburg economy. The European motorway axis E 30 (A 2 and A 10) crosses the region, connecting industrial Western Europe to the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe. Well-known, international industrial and logistics companies, technology centres, business parks and scientific and research facilities are dotted along this business axis like a pearl chain. The future Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is also directly connected via the transport corridor.
World-famous companies such as Rolls-Royce, MTU, Mercedes-Benz, ZF, eBay, Oracle, VW (design centre and logistics centre), Katjes, Fiege or the famous Potsdam-Babelsberg film studios are just some examples. Investments pay off in the region.
The region offers a number of dynamic economic centres:
- The economic region of Westbrandenburg for industrial companies, in particular metal industry, rail technology and optics
- GVZ Großbeeren is an attractive freight transport centre for logistics companies;
- For biotechnology companies, there are three distinguished sites in the healthcare industry/life sciences
- Media City Babelsberg for companies in the film and television industry;
In the economic region, there are a total of five regional growth cores (Brandenburg a.d.H., Potsdam, Ludwigsfelde, Luckenwalde and the Schönefelder Kreuz), which offer particularly attractive funding opportunities.
